According to Port-IT CEO Youri Hart, the latest version is the company’s biggest release to date.
Port-IT Vanir is an all-in-one security suite designed for the maritime market. Vanir integrates various Port-IT services and products into a single solution that is capable of addressing all cybersecurity threats facing the shipping industry today. Vanir is a service designed for VSAT or GX capable vessels.
“It allows customers to receive feedback on all cybersecurity services used through a single, integrated interface; showing a true synergy between the products. This has not been seen in the industry until now and it really is an important step in the protection of ships”, explained CEO Youri Hart.
“In addition to the completely new user interface and service integration, the biggest news is that we have introduced a new service and an old customer wish: Patch Management. With this feature, we can remotely update our Endpoint Security Suite to newer versions without the need for customer interaction. And at the same time, we provide our customers with the ability to update their own applications, for example, Winzip.
“While Patch Management is not directly a security feature, it does help prevent malicious attacks on programs that have known issues. We first scoured the market for existing patch management applications, but they were expensive and would significantly increase the license price for customers. By developing our own patch management functionality, we are able to integrate it as a service into our full line of products, making it available through a single dashboard. And just as important, we avoid passing the higher costs on to our customers.”
Alerts and extended support
Alerts are a feature of Vanir Endpoint Security Suite. This feature allows customers to receive notifications, for example, about malicious activity or newly installed software. As mobile devices are increasingly used and ship security teams must anticipate serious detection, Port-IT has also expanded its support for Apple IOS devices. Customers can receive push messages on their mobile phone or Apple Watch, notifying them of a high-risk alert on one of their ships.
Vanir Endpoint Security Suite focuses on providing a high level of security on board ships while allowing shipowners to comply with IMO regulations.
Port-IT also provides 24/7 active security monitoring through its security operations center.
